March Break Fun in Oakville

If you and your family are planning on staying in town during March Break, be sure to check out all of these great activities and events! From swimming and skating at our wonderful community centres to tons of fun at Oakville Place and Whole Foods Market, as well as some exciting outdoor activities at Bronte Creek Provincial Park and Glen Eden Ski and Snowboard Centre.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park is holding their Maple Syrup Festival. From March 2 to April 1, enjoy guided tours of Maple Lane, freshly made maple candy, and pancakes with fresh maple syrup and sausages or bacon, wagon rides and much more. The event is open every weekend and all week during March Break from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The cost is $16 per vehicle to access the park. Pancake meals are $3 for a small meal and $30 for a family platter. The Maple Syrup Festival is a fun and educational outing the entire family will love!


Want to go swimming on March Break? The Town of Oakville has additional March Break Recreational swimming times available at all three of the Community Pools, including Centennial Pool, Glen Abbey Community Centre, and Iroquois Ridge Community Centre. Admission is $4 per person and there is a group rate of $12 for a maximum of five people. Children under 2 years of age are free. Feel like skating instead? The Town of Oakville also has additional recreational skating times available daily at five of the Town rinks. From Monday to Friday, March 11 through to March 15, at Glen Abbey from 3:30 – 4:45 pm, Kinoak from 3:30 – 4:45 pm, Maplegrove from 3:30 – 4:45 pm, Oakville Arena from 3:30 – 4:45 pm, and River Oaks from 1:00 – 2:15 pm. The cost is $4 per person, and there is a family rate for up to 4 people for $12.

The Oakville Public Library is offering a variety of entertaining March Break programs, including ‘Angry Birds Live’ were they will have Pig Bowling, an Angry Bird Obstacle Course, a Scavenger Hunt, and Angry Bird headband craft among other activities. Looking for some fun in the snow during March Break? Glen Eden Ski and Snowboard Centre is offering five day March Break Camps for Skiing and Snowboarding. Availability is limited, so be sure to call 905-878-5011 and book it today, or just go up for the day and enjoy some fun on the slopes and lunch in one of the cozy chalets! Oakville Place is presenting Mad Science during March Break. Come to the Centre Court and enjoy the interactive shows and Fun Stations! Spark your imaginative learning from Wednesday, March 13 through to Sunday, March 17. Daily shows are at 11:00 am. Fun Stations on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday include ‘Dry Ice – So Cool’, ‘Cotton Candy – So Sweet’ and ‘Silly Putty – So Nutty’. On Thursday and Saturday, the Fun Stations will include ‘Slime – So Slippery’, ‘Bouncy Ball – So Bouncy’, and ‘UV Key Chains – So Smart’. The Fun Stations are open from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.

Whole Foods Market is hosting a March Break Chef Camp from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15.  This is an excellent opportunity for young chefs, ages 8-12 years, to enjoy shopping for the day’s ingredients and to experience hands-on cooking, fun and informative activities.
